In 2019, my husband and I moved from Chicago to South Beach to escape the brutal, long winters that Chicago is famous for. What was supposed to be a six-month stint turned into a three-year stay in the sun-soaked beach destination.


With COVID hitting Chicago hard, we decided to extend our stay for the foreseeable future.

    Next door (literally) to Planta is Abbale, a hidden gem for plant-based foodies. Growing up in Israel, I can confidently say their authentic Mediterranean-inspired meals are crafted with care and attention to detail. A must-try: hummus with warm falafel and pita bread.
